Just in time to celebrate drivin’ those redcoats out of town, here’s my entry for the Summer Myth contest. The contest was sponsored by illustration superstar, and one of my favorites, Jillian Tamaki.

The thing that immediately came to mind for me when thinking of ‘summer myth’ were the barrage of articles you might see in the run up to summer if, like myself, you subscribe to the usual round of men’s magazines. “10 Easy Steps to the Perfect Beach Bod” type things. Maybe it’s accompanied by a photo spread of the most recent #1 NFL draft pick. There’s probably a model in it. The summer myth being, for the majority of fellas, there’s quite a few more than ten steps separating us from this:

For the visuals, for whatever reason, most likely an adolescence of being intimidated by women in bikinis, I thought of this:
